Brisbane artist Michael Keller has held successful solo exhibitions for the past eight years. Deferring from studies in architecture, Michael completed a degree in science at the University of Queensland. He never returned to his original studies, pursuing instead an eventful career as a forensic scientist.

Michael has now been painting for over 20 years and has held annual solo exhibitions at Graydon Gallery in New Farm since 2003. His paintings are in private collections throughout Australia.

An exhibition of the most recent paintings by Michael Keller will be held at Graydon Gallery, 29 Merthyr Road, New Farm, Brisbane from 25 July – 5 August 2012.

The works are predominantly of the built environment, representing material gathered by the artist both locally and overseas and are characterised by rich textures and accentuated light and shadow. Cultural values, beliefs and evidence of past and present lives can be seen in the evanescent details of the structures portrayed. The paintings are most often uninhabited, allowing the viewer to give full attention to the eloquence of shape, colour, texture and shadow.
